About NPG mission

The National Pathology Group is an independent interest group consisting of Southern African pathologists.

The Group promotes best practice standards with the objective of improving the quality and availability of diagnostic pathology services. NPG members adhere to a Code of Ethical Conduct.

  • To promote the professional and legitimate interests of pathology;
  • To promote the professional and ethical practice of pathology recognising the statutory authority and function of the Health Professions Councils of countries where members practice;
  • To inform medical practitioners about ongoing developments in pathology;
  • Promoting accurate diagnosis and quality care of patients; resulting in
  • Appropriate and cost-effective diagnosis and therapy;
